Making CMT a house-hold name is part of our mission at HNF and getting the word out in the media can do wonders to increase the public’s awareness of the disease. As part of our National Awareness Campaign, HNF has successfully placed ads in national magazines, including People, Ladies’ Home Journal, Scientific American, and New York Magazine.

In addition to print media, HNF President, Allison Moore, and HNF Executive Director, Teresa Eickel, have appeared on the WOR Radio program, Community Concerns. Hundreds of thousands of people tuned in to hear Allison and Terri talk about CMT and the work of HNF. Allison Moore was also featured in the nationally syndicated TV show Real Moms, Real Savvy. Featuring mothers with disabilities, the show gave people all over the country a chance to see what life is like for Allison, a busy mother of two who must balance her family and job with the challenges of living with CMT.

In another effort to educate people about CMT, HNF produced a poignant and educational video that features HNF Board Members, all touched by CMT, as well as prominent surgeon Dr. Glenn Pfeffer, and world-renowned bio-physicist, Dr. Daniel Farkas, both of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Informative, moving, and inspiring, this video is an accurate depiction of life with CMT, the courage of those that have this disease, and the determination of those who want to cure it.
